Bleaching - Teeth Whitening
Tooth whitening, or bleaching, is one of the
most popular areas of cosmetic dentistry. Even subtle changes
to the shade or color of the teeth can make someone look
years younger. Several factors can contribute to the darkening
of teeth, including the effects of age, certain foods and
drinks, smoking, and even some medications.
Temporary Bleaching is a process which involves placing a
bleaching solution on the teeth, which causes a chemical
reaction, called oxidation, to occur which lightens teeth.
Dr. Weigand offers two temporary bleaching systems. The
first is the traditional trays that are worn over the teeth
with the bleaching solution in the trays. The other is
a single step teeth-whitening process. It is fast, simple,
and effective. The revolutionary, one-hour treatment consists
of a gentle hydrogen-peroxide whitening gel activated by
a special patented light operating in the gentle "blue
spectrum."
Unlike traditional bleaching methods, there's no fuss or
mess and no gels or trays to take home. Just sit back and
relax while Dr. Weigand's excellent team does the rest.
Permanent Whitening is much more predictable than the above
methods. In permanent whitening or bleaching, the teeth
are actually veneered, or covered with porcelain laminates.
With this method, even the darkest of teeth can be lightened,
and the final shade can be as white as you like. Permanent
whitening can last up to 20 years. See Lumineers for
more information.
