Give Yourself a brighter Outlook on Life

One does not expect to find fresh flowers, massage chairs, Godiva chocolates, blankets and pillows at a dentist's office. Not to mention headphones for the CD and radio, a virtual reality headset, refreshments (coffee, tea, juice, bottled water), and of course a warm scented towel offered after each visit.

Dr. Richard Weigand calls this the spa experience. He believes that dental patients don't have to be miserable and bored as they wait to have what for some fear to be an excruciating or, at the very least, necessarily uncomfortable experience: a visit to the dentist.

There's another thing Dr Weigand believes, which is that everyone deserves to have a great smile. And as a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Dr. Weigand is committed to providing people with just that: a glowing smile.

"We truly feel that within every patient there is a dream," says Dr. Weigand. "This is not really about teeth or about these little pieces of porcelain," he says, holding some shiny, brightly colored, ceramic tooth caps in the palm of his hand. "It's about people, and having your smile improved and how it can help change your whole outlook on life."

Not convinced? Consider the statistics: 88 percent polled believe people with attractive smiles are especially memorable, and over 80 percent agree that an unattractive smile is less appealing to the opposite sex. But Dr. Weigand doesn't think the benefits of cosmetic dentistry are fully revealed by what others think about his client's appearance; rather it's how the client feels. Sadly, only half of all Americans believe they have a quality smile. Imagine how many otherwise warm and friendly people are withholding their smiles out of embarrassment or self-consciousness.

Modern dentistry has greatly advanced with in the last decade, and there are now easy, affordable and safe ways to improve you smile quickly and dramatically. "It's a great time to be a dentist and a dental patient," says Dr. Weigand, who strives to keep abreast of the latest dental technology. He says that it's very important for him to provide high-quality, state-of-the- art services to his clients. A graduate of Creighton University Dental School, the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies and a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry, Dr. Weigand is an esteemed member of his profession. He is also a graduate of Pacific Aesthetic Continuum and the Spokane Advanced Aesthetic Continuum.

Implants, teeth whitening, smile design, and metal-filling replacements are just some of the procedures available at Dr. Weigand's south-side clinic, not to mention general, preventive dentistry. He points out that implants can be the best long-term treatment option available in dentistry today for missing teeth. Surprisingly, easy and incredibly durable implants are a much better solution than traditional bridges or dentures. And his smile design program can accomplish in two office visits what braces would take years to accomplish. "Many adults have had problems with their smiles since childhood," says Dr. Weigand. "You're never too old to correct odd-sized, discolored, crooked or gapped teeth" In fact, many of Dr. Weigand's smile design patients are well into their 50s and 60s.

One procedure that is welcomed by many in Dr. Weigand's office is drill-less technology. Using innovative air-abrasion and laser diagnosis, Dr. Weigand and his staff are able to replace many fillings with out traditional needles and drills. Why? Because he wants to make sure everyone takes care of their teeth. And for some skittish patients, scented candles and warm towels just aren't enough to quell their aversion to dentistry. That's one should visit the dentist twice a year is not just Dental Association propaganda; studies have consistently linked moderate to severe gum disease to an increase in heart-related pathology, as well as a host of other ailments.

"Gum disease and even big cavities don't hurt until it's too late," says Dr. Weigand . "To not see your dentist is to ignore basis health.

If you've been avoiding the dentist or wanting to fix your smile, you'll be surprised what Dr. Weigand's south side clinic has to offer you.
